Criticism against planned expansion of EU Construction Products Regulation to include wooden packaging

  • text size

The German packaging and timber industry recently warned of serious conceptual and substantive deficiencies in the draft of the new EU Construction Products Regulation. The Federal Association of Wooden Packaging, Pallets, Export Packaging (HPE) is opposed to the European Commission's current plan to include packaging. According to HPE Managing Director Marcus Kirschner, this is neither justified nor proportionate. Its consequences could hardly be foreseen. Declarations of performance and conformity of the goods would have to be changed for each outer packaging. The HPE's serious concerns about the Commission's draft CPR are shared by several well-known organizations, including FEFBEB and CEI-Bois.
