In Finland, the upward roundwood price trend which started in June continues in August. Pine and spruce sawlogs have become more expensive as compared to July by about 4,1 percent and 2,3 percent respectively. Price of birch has increased only slightly, and is still lower than August 2013. Pulpwood assortments have registered some price increases which get them closer to the price levels of August 2013, or even higher.
From January till August Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) member companies purchased about 20.2 million cubic meters of roundwood from Finland's private forests, which is three percent higher than the previous year. Sawlogs purchased in January-August amounted 9.1 million cubic meters, while pulpwood reached 10.4 million m3.
