In April, the price for wood pellets in fell in line with the season in Germany. As reported by the German Pellet Institute (DEPI), one ton (t) costs an average of 226.74 euros (purchase of 6 t). That is 5.5 percent less than in March and 7.8 percent less than last year. The kilo price is accordingly 22.67 cents, the kilowatt hour (kWh) of heat from pellets costs 4.53 cents. The price advantage over heating oil is 27.1 percent and that over natural gas around 29 percent.
In April 2021, the following regional differences emerged in the price of wood pellets (purchase quantity 6 t): In southern Germany, pellets are again the cheapest at 219.36 euros / t, with northern Germany following some distance behind with 233.37 euros / t. In central Germany, the pellets currently cost 233.42 euros / t.
Larger quantities (26 t) will be traded in April 2021 at the following conditions:
south: 207.20 euros / t, center: 216.19 euros / t, north / east: 222.83 euros / t (all including VAT) .
